1. Who is Geely?

Geely is the second largest manufacturer of cars in China. The company is among the country’s top 500 firms.

Established as an independent firm in 1986, Geely launched its auto manufacturing business in 1997 and is today the only non-governmental a fully integrated independent auto firm with a complete auto eco-system from design, research and development to production, distribution and servicing.

In 2005 Geely Automobile Holdings Limited was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange providing full transparency for it's financial strength and manufacturing numbers. From November 2008 to November 2009 the share has gone up by 869% from a price of 0.31 HKD to 2.82 HKD.

Over the past ten years, Geely has grown faster than any other company in the Chinese automotive industry. The rapid growth has been built on careful planning and innovation. Geely’s independent R&D in vehicles, engines, transmissions and hybrid technologies had meant that the firm is the only Chinese car manufacturer to have developed its own range of engines – including eight series of engines between 1 liter and 1.8 liters supporting both manual and automatic transmissions – plus other valuable technologies.

Geely is headquartered in Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province, and operates six car assembly and power-train manufacturing plants in China that are located in Lanzhou (Gansu province), Linhai (Zhejiang province), Luqiao (Zhejiang province), Ningbo (Zhejiang province), Shanghai and Xiangtan (Hunan province). These facilities enable a production capacity of approximately 300,000 cars per year.

In September 2009 Geely Group Holdings Co., has announced of planes to bid for Volvo. Geely is reported to be in the front running for the purchase.
Geely posted 35 percent sales growth in the first eight months of the year to 185,000 units, equivalent to 74 percent of its full-year target of 250,000. Geely aims to produce 20 million cars in 2015, with 1.3 million overseas.

Geely Motors SRL is a partnership between Colmobil Ltd., a 2 Billion US Dollar turnover international company, and a Moldovan investment group with holdings in the insurance (Exima-asint) ,financing (FFG) and real estate business. Colmobil has over 70 years of experience in the international car market as an importer of Mercedes, Hyundai and Mitsubishi. The total car sales of Colmobil per year are over 35'000. The Management team is composed of international and Moldovan experienced professionals in marketing, sales and service.

The Geely brand is represented in over 53 countries around the world, and has set a goal of exporting internationally 2/3 of its production. It is the aim of Geely to enter new strategic fast growing markets in Europe. The cars have 3 years or 100'000 KM warranty, similar to European brand.

7. What about service?

The experienced service people were trained by Geely and the facility top of the line service and diagnostic equipment and spare parts. The Geely service center offers the highest level of service and professionalism. In addition, our Kishinev logistics center is responsible for the steady flow of spare parts and operations.
