Uncle Nicolai will meet you at the doorstep of La Taifas with a glass of white wine. This is one of customs of cordial Moldovans. It is a custom to have a first glass of wine with a walnut. Once you have made yourself at home, you can read the menu. While you are reading a huge list of dishes, the waiter gives you a present from La Taifas. This is another good tradition: Moldovans do not let their guests leave empty-handed.



Another surprise is coming when you are done with your hearty dinner: they will treat you, as a dear guest, to a glass of wine at the horse’s mouth. Moldovans call it ‘la botul calului’ – the idea is for you to take a piece of La Taifas’s cordiality as you leave..
