About the restaurant

Relaxation at Popasul Dacilor is different from traditional relaxation at a restaurant for a number of reasons. The idea underlying this particular catering establishment is rather unusual and interesting. The restaurant owner who is also the designer of Popasul Dacilor is more than just a connoisseur of history; he is the personality who is determined to make his ideas reality. Popasul Dacilor was meant to be more than an ordinary restaurant with traditional Moldovan cuisine; it was designed primarily as an old manor house or even a castle. Possibly one of the greatest Dacian kings Decebal used to live in a similar castle. Decebal was known well both for his brilliant military victories and his love for luxury, elegant expensive objects and sophisticated cuisine… Popasul Dacilor Restaurant gives its guests the chance to make an imaginary trip in the past – to the time of this great king’s rule - when Decebal and his court attendants close to him entertained truly royal, generous and delicious parties. Their meals were true feasts which lasted for several days on end.
