The “Cricova” winery, which is famous by its unique underground labyrinths and excellent wines, was created in 1952. It was precisely that time when the limestone mine was changed into the winery, the basements of which ideally fit a process of winemaking and its keeping.

“Cricova” is the unique enterprise with unprecedented possibilities, one of the three underground wine basements of the world, which is protected by the UNESCO, and at the same time, it is the only one producer of the sparkling wine, which is made by the classical method “Chmpenoise”.

Today the company has such equipment, which is necessary for the stable process of wine production, proper to national and international standards. The personal stuff of the winery was especially trained for the production of wines and Champaign, the quality of which satisfies as generally used and traditional parameters so new gustatory ones. In spite of a scanty financing of the several industrial sectors the company reached a high technological level, which we can compare to the level of the western wineries.

It is known that each second bottle of wine produced in the former USSR was made in Moldova or by Moldavian recipes and traditions. Moreover before the First World War Moldova was the most powerful winemaker of Russian Empire. And about one century ago the sparkling wine materials were imported from Moldova to many other countries, including France.
