Moldovans holding Ukrainian passports expected again at polling places

The Moldovan citizens who have Ukrainian nationality are invited to take part in the second round of the Ukrainian presidential election on February 7.

A total of 18 candidates took part in the January 17 election. Former Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych and current PM Yulia Tymoshenko will compete in run-off as they won most of the votes - 35.32% and, respectively, 25.05%.
The Ukrainian Embassy in Chisinau said the voting rules for the Moldovans holding Ukrainian passports remained unchanged. They can cast their votes at two polling places opened in Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports.

Polling place No. 58 will be set up at the Ukrainian Embassy in Chisinau located at 17 Vasile Lupu St. It is intended for the Ukrainian citizens who live in the municipality of Chisinau, the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, the towns of Tiraspol, Tighina, and Dnestrovsk and the districts of Anenii Noi, Basarabeasca, Grigoriopol, Dubasari, Cahul, Calarasi, Cantemir, Causeni, Criuleni, Leova, Nisporeni, Orhei, Slobozia, Straseni, Taraclia, Ungheni, Hancesti, Stefan-Voda, Cimislia, and Ialoveni.

The second polling place, No 59, will be opened at the Ukrainian Consulate in Balti situated at 143 Kievskaia St. It is designed for the Ukrainian citizens living in the municipality of Balti and the districts of Briceni, Glodeni, Donduseni, Drochia, Rezina, Rascani, Edinet, Camenca, Ocnita, Rybnitsa, Sangerei, Soroca, Telenesti, Falesti, Floresti, and Soldanesti.

The polling places on February 7 will work from 8.00 until 20.00.

Those eligible can vote using the internal Ukrainian passport (identity card), foreign passport, diplomatic passport, work passport, the sailor's permit or crew member's certificate.

According to the data provided by the Ukrainian Embassy in Chisinau, 1,324 Moldovans voted in the January 17 election. 1,072 of them cast their votes in Chisinau, while 252 – in Balti. Official statistics show there are more than 71,000 persons with Ukrainian nationality in Moldova, including Transnistria.
