The traffic police are carrying out a special operation titled “Railroad Crossing” between March 9 and 11 in order to prevent accidents in such places.

Tudor Capatana, senior specialist at the Traffic Police Department's press office, told Info-Prim Neo that the employees of the police stations working in the settlements where there are railroad crossings will monitor how the drivers observe the rules when crossing railroad lines. The inspectors will check the condition of the crossings.

Under the Code of Administrative Offenses, the fine for damaging roads and crossings and for intentionally creating traffic obstacles is up to 1,000 lei.

A number of 191 railroad crossings will be examined during the operation. Twenty-three of them are located in the municipality of Chisinau.
