After a modest start of the second half of the season, the Sheriff management decided to reinforce the defense component of the team by signing a contract with 23-year-old Miral Samardzic, a former player for Slovenia Under-21, Info-Prim Neo reports.

Samardzic has come to Sheriff from Slovenia's top-rated club, Maribor.

During the mid-season break, Moldova's champions signed contracts with 5 other footballers from the Balkans – Zarko Korac, Bacho Nikolic and Marko Djurovic from Montenegro; Vladislav Stoianov of Bulgaria; and Milos Adamovic of Serbia.

At the same time, the Tiraspol-based club lost three defenders – Da Costa, Karpovici and Mamah – who left in pursuit of more challenging championships than Moldova's.

Samardzic has a chance to make his debut for Sheriff on March 13, when the Moldovan champions will encounter Viitorul Orhei in a round XXI match.
