Over 200 cultural actions will be organized in Moldova within Days of Francophonie on 17-31 March. Contests of poetry, songs, scientific conferences, including in the medicine area, will be carried out and Francophone movies will be screened.
A representative of the cultural service of the French embassy in Chisinau, Diana Dumitru, has told MOLDPRES that Marguerite Yourcenar Days will be conducted in Moldova for the first time ever on 22-24 March. Festivities dedicated to this French writer will be held in the capital and Cahul, southern Moldova.
At the same time, a contest will be held at the French embassy, the participants in which will be able to win tickets for a concert by singer Lara Fabian, due in Chisinau on 1 April. The tenth issue of the festival of the Francophone Film, will be held in Chisinau, Balti, Cahul, Ungheni and Tiraspol on 20-28 March. Eleven full-length feature films will be screened. The entrance to the festival is free.
A National Festival of French Songs will be conducted at the Academy of Economic Studies on 20 March. The official inauguration of Days of Francophonie in Moldova will take place at the Serghei Lunchevici National Philharmonics on 19 March. The entrance will be on the basis of invitations.
Days of Francophonie have been annually held in Moldova since 1997, when the country became a member of the International Organisation of the Francophonie. International Day of Francophonie is marked on 20 March.
