The Humanist Party of Moldova (PUM) will campaign in favor of the September 5 referendum and call on the people to vote for direct election of the President, Info-Prim Neo has learned from the party's press service.

The decision was taken by the party's Standing Bureau. The PUM also lodged an application with the Central Election Commission to be registered as participant in the campaign preceding the referendum.

Fourteen political organizations have registered to take part in the campaign for the September 5 constitutional referendum so far.

On September 5, voters will be asked whether they are in favor or against direct election of the head of state.

PUM chairman Valeriu Pasat said he will take part in the campaign for the presidential elections if Article 78 of the Constitution is amended.
