According to the Ministry of Finance of Moldova, the external state debt increased by $215,36 million (27,7%) as compared to the same period of 2009. As of late first six months of 2009 the external state debt of Moldova amounted to about $775,1 million and as of early 2010 - $773,67 million. The growth of external state debt in January-June 2010 was caused by the inflow of loans in the country and considerable overdraft over the amount of payments on external state debt. As it was earlier informed, the total external debt of Moldova as of March 31, 2010 amounted to $4 billion 361,79 million, reducing in I quarter 2010 by $7,04 million (0,2%).
According to the National Bank of Moldova, however, the external state debt and the state guaranteed debt of the republic has increased by $56,51 million (5%) - from $1 billion 139,75 million up to $1 billion 196,26 million. At the same time, the private non-guaranteed external debt has reduced by $63,55 million (2%) - from $3 billion 229,08 million up to $3 billion 165,53 million. According to the NBM, the external long-term liabilities of Moldova in I quarter of 2010 have increased by 1,1% - from $2 billion 787,03 million up to $2 billion 816,96 million, but the external short-term liabilities in the same period have reduced by 2,3% - from $1 billion 581,8 million to $1 billion 544,83 million.
