The problem of the exports of Moldovan wines and crop-origin products to Russia will hopefully be resolved in the nearest future on the level of experts from the two countries proceeding from the two peoples’ interests and from the principles of strategic partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation. Hope for this was expressed in the letter Moldova’s Acting President Mihai Ghimpu sent to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Ghimpu thanked his Russian colleague for congratulations on Moldova’s Independence Day, and reaffirmed Chisinau’s interest for “establishing a constructive and efficient dialog with Moscow based on mutual respect for the development of multifaceted cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation”.

“I am convinced Russia is capable of making a constructive contribution to achieving a just solution of the Transnistria problem to be based on the principles of Moldova’s territorial integrity and sovereignty”, wrote Mihai Ghimpu.

He assured President Medvedev and the Russian people of his permanent cordial sympathies towards them.
