Dubasari Prosecutor's Office takes legal action against persons who blocked referendum in Corjova

The Dubasari Prosecutor's Office started criminal cases against the persons who blocked the holding of the referendum in Corjova village on September 5. About 30 militiamen led by the head of the Dubasari militia station Nicolae Pestov and approximately 300 persons of different ages dressed in civies barred access to the poling place with heavy trucks, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Prosecutor General's Office.

According to the communique, the persons involved are Transnistrian activists, who are mainly from Dubasari, Grigoriopol and Rybnitsa districts. Among the participants were the 'Cossacks' chief' Alexandru Iov and the head of the Transnistrian security ministry Alexandru Lubiaghin.

Legal action was taken under Article 181 of the Penal Code for hindering the exercise of the voting rights and the work of the electoral bodies, which stipulates punishment of two to five years' imprisonment.
