In August 2010 the deflation in Moldova was 0,9%, and in tote since the beginning of 2010 the inflation of 3,7% was registered

As InfoMarket agency was informed in the National Bureau of Statistics, in particular, in August 2010 the food prices reduced by 2,6%, non-food prices – by 0,1%, while prices for services rendered to the population grew by 0,1%. In whole, in January-August 2010 the food products fell in price by 1,3%, non-food – rose in price by 4,3% and tariffs for services rendered to the population grew by 10,8%.

In August among the food items most of all the prices reduced for: watermelons and melons – by 50,1%, eggplants – by 43,1%, onion – by 33,1%, sweet pepper, carrot and beetroot – by 28,5% each, tomatoes – by 21,5%, potatoes – by 16,7%, fresh fruit – by 9,2% (including peaches and plums – by 21,5% each, apples and pears – by 18,9%).

The prices for the majority of non-food products didn’t change in August.

Light reduction in prices was registered for: medicines – by 1,5%, household appliances, bicycles, spare parts and accessories for cars, photo and video equipment, detergents – by 0,5% each.

Among the services rendered to the population in August the tariffs for the following transportations have fallen in price a little: international air transportation – by 2,1%, railway passenger traffic – by 0,1%.

At the same time, the prices for stationery increased by 2%, the payment for education in the high educational institutions grew by 4,8%, the foreign tourist services rose in price by 2,5%.

As it was previously reported, the National Bank of Moldova reduced the forecast of inflation for 2010 by 2,5 pp – up to 8,2%. The International Monetary Fund forecasts for 2010 the level of inflation in Moldova on the level of 9,3%.
