The final results of the September 5 constitutional referendum will be made known on Thursday, September 9, not on September 8 as initially planned, Info-Prim Neo reports.

Electoral offices' reports on the results of the plebiscite, the lists of voters and the ballots from all the polling places established abroad will get to Chisinau by Thursday. In a communique, the Central Election Commission (CEC) says it cannot adopt the decision on the referendum outcome if it does not have these documents.

Under the Election Code, the CEC can draw up the final report on the results of the referendum, on the basis of the documents presented by the district electoral councils, within five days.

The preliminary results show the turnout of voters in the referendum was 29.05%. For the plebiscite to be validated, the turnout must be 33.3%.
