Moldovan foreign ministry's commentary
The Foreign and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) has expressed deep perplexity about an unannounced visit to Moldova's Transnistrian region by Russian Defence Minister Anatoliy Serdyukov, without a preceding coordination with the Moldovan authorities. The Russian charge d'affairs in Moldova was urgently summoned to the MAEIE on this occasion on 12 April. The Russian diplomat was drawn attention to the inadmissible nature of this action, which arouses more questions about both the goal of the concerned visit and an eventual impact of such gestures on the Moldovan-Russian bilateral relations. At the same time, the MAEIE sent a verbal note to the Russian embassy, in which the necessary clarifications were requested.
