The Chisinau-based National Palace will bear the name of the departed Moldovan popular folk singer, Nicolae Sulac, from now on, according to a decision the cabinet made today.

Culture Minister Boris Focsa noted that the decision was taken in order to eternalize Sulac's name. Presently, a national festival-contest of young folk singers, as well as a music school in the northern town Floresti bear the name of the great singer.

People's Artist Nicolae Sulac died in 2003 at the age of 67. He is largely viewed as a legend in the Moldovan folklore, whose creation represents a real national patrimony. Among his most known songs are :"Floarea lui Sulac", "Cind tata va veni", "Ce frumos mai cinta cucul", "Miorita", "Doina de jale", "In padurea de la Prut" etc.
