The Foreign and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) recommends Moldovan citizens to pay increased attention and to be cautious while travelling or crossing the Republic of Macedonia, given the tense political situation there, the ministry's information and press relations service has said.

The security situation in Macedonia has worsened and might grow into tensions and street rallies, especially in northern regions (Gostivar, Tetovo, Kumanova cities) in western cities and in the capital Skopje. There is a high risk of clashes during street rallies expected to be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Foreign and European Integration Ministry recommends Moldovans to abstain from participating in rallies or political activities.

At the same time, the MAEIE recommends Moldovans travelling to Macedonia to preliminarily get informed on the security situation there. In this respect, they can access the website of the Foreign and European Integration Ministry: www.mfa.gov.md.

Moldovan residents in need, who are presently in Macedonia, are asked to contact the Sofia-based Moldovan embassy at (+3592)-935-60-15, as well as the call centre of the MAEIE at: (+373)-22-690-690.
