Dorin Chirtoaca elected co-chairman of CORLEAP

Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca was elected co-chairman of the Conference of the Regional and Local Authorities for the Eastern Partnership (CORLEAP) on May 30. The CORLEAP’s meeting is taking place in Brussels on May 30 – 31, Info-Prim Neo reports.

CORLEAP is a working body of the Committee of the Regions of the European Union, known as the ‘voice of the local authorities at the EU level’.

According to a communiqué from the Chisinau City Hall, Dorin Chirtoaca was elected by consensus by the representatives of all the member countries of the Eastern Partnership. Dorin Chirtoaca’s term in office is six months. Mercedes Bresso, who heads the EU’s Committee of the Regions, was elected as the second co-chairman of CORLEAP.

It is for the first time that a representative of Moldova was elected as co-chairman of this organization. The second annual meeting of the Conference of the Regional and Local Authorities for the Eastern Partnership will take place in Chisinau in September.
