A ‘spoon’ of Turkish culture for Moldova

The Embassy of Turkey in Chisinau has staged a series of events on the occasion of 20 years of the establishment of the bilateral relations. Opera singers from Istanbul and Ankara will give two concerts in Moldova – one in Comrat on June 5 and one in Chisinau on June 6, Info-Prim Neo reports.

Turkish Ambassador to Moldova Mehmet Selim Kartal yesterday evening hosted a reception with opera music and traditional Turkish dishes at his residence. The diplomat said the peoples of Moldova and Turkey resemble each other as they have a common history.

“We have common taints and even common culture,” said Mehmet Selim Kartal. Speaking about the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, the ambassador said that what Turkey does for this region is in strict compliance with the Moldovan legislation and the acts are coordinated with the central authorities.

The diplomat also said that the Turkish businessmen work successfully in Moldova, especially in the beer and candies production sectors. They produce beer and candies. Turkish companies built one of the most profitable hotels in Moldova. The most popular private hospital belongs to a Turkish company. “But we do not intend only to invest. Our goal is to have joint production. The environment in Moldova is very good for economic cooperation, but it should be yet developed,” said Mehmet Selim Kartal

Earlier, the ambassador said that the financial assistance offered by Turkey to Moldova exceeded US$25 million.
