The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) will put 6 commemorative coins into circulation on June 21 both as the means of payment and for numismatic purposes.
According to the NBM decision, the 200 lei coin “The 555th Anniversary Since Stefan Cel Mare Has Taken the Throne” will be issued within the series Eminent People. The number of coins makes 1,000 produced from gold with weight of 15.5 g and diameter of 28 mm.
An analogous coin was produced from silver, weighting 13 g and with 28 mm diameter. It face value is 50 lei, and number of coins – 2,000.
Within the series the Alley of Classics in the Chisinau City Park, the Ion Creanga coin was also issued of two types – from gold and silver.
The coin Sinzienele [holiday] will appear within the series Holidays, Culture, Traditions of Moldova; and the coin Summer Olympics 2012 will be issued within the series Sports. They both have the face value of 50 lei, diameter of 30 mm, weight of 16.5 g, and number of coins – 1,000 each.
Infotag’s dossier: Altogether, the National Bank projects to issue 11 commemorative coins in 2012. The first such coin was produced in 1996 and dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Moldova’s independence. Since then, about 80 coins have been output.
