Prime Minister Vlad Filat today met US Ambassador to Moldova William H. Moser, the government's communication and press relations department has said. The officials discussed the current stage of the Moldovan-US relations and their development prospects. At the same time, they tackled Moldova's reform agenda and the way in which the USA can contribute to its implementation. US Ambassador William H. Moser welcomed Moldova's progresses in the adjustment of the national legislative framework to the international standards, which ensures the democratic development of society. The US diplomat highlighted that the USA would further back Moldova's reformation path, in particular in the judiciary and economic fields, in the development of a business-friendly environment and in the democratization of society and protection of human rights. The officials also discussed the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. In the context, they expressed hope that the high-level conference "Promoting confidence-building measures in the Transnistrian conflict settlement", organized by the OSCE in Rottach-Egern, Germany, on 20 June, would produce positive results that would contribute to the development of the political dialogue on the matter. "The United States advocate a settlement of the Transnistrian problem and stability in this region," Moser said. For his part, Filat expressed gratitude for the constant support given by the USA to Moldova and reiterated the government's openness for an efficient dialogue with the US partners in all the cooperation fields. As for the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, the prime minister highlighted the role of the foreign partners. He reiterated that promoting confidence-building measures in the Transnistrian conflict settlement is among the key priorities of the Moldovan government. "It is important to ensure good communication on the matter and to clearly advance towards a final settlement of this issue. In this respect, we further rely on the support of our partners," Filat said.
