Prime Minister Vlad Filat held a meeting with German Foreign Ministry's Secretary of State Emily Haber in Rottach-Egern on 20 June, the government's communication and press relations department has reported. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the conference "Promoting confidence-building measures in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process". Transnistrian leader Yevgeniy Shevchuk, as well as other participants in the five plus two negotiations participated in the meeting. Vlad Filat welcomed Germany's role in and support for the process of settling the Transnistrian issue, praising the Rottach-Egern conference organized by the OSCE. The prime minister said the conference is a step torwards the confidence-building measures and towards a settlement of the Transnistrian issue. The prime minister specified that over the past years, Germany has been playing an increasingly important role in the Transnistrian settlement process and noted that he continues to rely on support in this direction. "It is doubtless that Germany had its part to play in everything that we have managed so far," Vlad Filat said. Emily Haber praised the latest developments in the settlement process, adding that her country will continue to provide the support needed in this respect.
