Ukraine resolute to impart new impulse to Transnistrian conflict settlement
During its OSCE presidency in 2013, Ukraine will be doing all it can to impart a new impulse to resolving protracted regional conflicts, including the Transnistrian one, and will be promoting the OSCE efficiency in an early prevention of conflicts and reacting to new challenges and threats to security, Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Konstantin Grishenko stated during the extraordinary sitting of the OSCE Permanent Council held in Vienna on Wednesday.
Grishenko presented to the delegations of 56 OSCE member states a list of OSCE chief priorities, as viewed by Ukraine to be tackled during the forthcoming Ukrainian presidency of the OSCE.
The minister stated that the presidency will be acting from behalf of and in the interests of all OSCE member countries, and called upon all states to a dialog to resolve the vital problems of European security.
In the military-political sphere, the Ukrainian OSCE presidency will be backing efforts aimed at restoration of an efficient mechanism of control over conventional arms in Europe, non-proliferation of mass-destruction weapons, and consolidation of trust in the military field”.
In the economic and environment measurement, Ukraine will be rendering assistance to tackling energy/environment problems, and in the humanitarian field – to the problems of freedom of the speech, promotion of tolerance and non-discrimination, gender equality, and trafficking in human beings. An essential attention will be attached to a constructive attraction of non-governmental organizations to the implementation of these OSCE objectives.
