The participants in the meeting approved a string of amendments to the agreements signed by the Moldova Millennium Challenge Fund and the local authorities involved in the implementation of the Compact programme of the Millennium Challenge Corporation.

The newly-operated amendments have been determined by the new conditions of the Compact programme. Thus, in line with the new amendments to the Agreement with the State Road Administration, the above-mentioned body will no longer be entitled to organize tenders for the rehabilitation of the Sarateni-Soroca highway, since the companies that will deal with the reconstruction of the Sarateni-Soroca highway and that will supervise the rehabilitation works, have already been selected.

At the same time, the State Road Administration will further provide technical assistance in the management of the road rehabilitation projects, in the elaboration and management of the agenda of activities and in the elaboration and implementation of a plan for ensuring the quality of works and for monitoring the progress in this respect.

At the same time, the executive director of the Millennium Challenge Fund Moldova, Valentina Badrajan, briefed the members of the Millennium Challenge Fund's supervisory board on the ongoing crediting programme for investments in the post-harvest infrastructure, launched in October 2011 within the Compact programme. Loans worth about 3.5 million dollars have been given within the programme so far. The money was used for the construction of refrigerating equipments and for purchasing fruits and vegetables' processing equipment.

The country director for Moldova of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Leslie McCuaig demanded the active involvement and the full support on behalf of the members of the supervisory board, in the implementation of the Compact programme, in order to successfully fulfill the outlined objectives by August 2015, when the programme's implementation term expires.

For his part, Prime Minister Vlad Filat praised the development of the Compact programme, voicing hope that this experience would be taken over and used within other projects, as well. At the same time, the prime minister ensured the representatives of the Moldova Millennium Challenge Fund and of the Millennium Challenge Corporation on the full support of the supervisory board, in the efficient and swift implementation of the activities seen in the Compact programme.

The Compact programme, worth 262 million dollars, is implemented by the Millennium Challenge Fund Moldova.
