Residents of Chisinau currently use more water than in the beginning of the warm season. Compared to April and May, water consumption rose by 10%, reported the water utility Apa-Canal Chisinau. Data from the provider shows that whereas in the last week of May daily consumption was 190 cubic meters, then in the same period in June it rose to 220 cubic meters per day.
Specialists from the enterprise explain the increase in consumption with the needs arisen from the dog days. A substantial growth in water consumption was registered in the suburbs. The quantity of water consumed daily in suburbs like Singera, Gratiesti, and Truseni, rose by 25%.
Due to the drought in the last month, people water their gardens and vineyards with water from the public systems. Even under such circumstances, Apa-Canal Chisinau assures people that the pipe pressure will stay normal and all consumers connected to the central water supply system will have running water continuously. They claim that the current situation has precedent and is reoccurs every year. On the other hand, the water provider asks the consumers to avoid excessive watering during the day, in order to avoid compromising the water flow for other consumers.
Individuals are asked to pay their bills in a timely manner; otherwise, they will be disconnected from the central water supply system.
