Moldova exported 79,396 hl of wine to EU countries in January-June 2012. The figure accounts for 44.1 per cent of the wine quota of 180,000 hl offered to Moldova in 2012 within the EU's Autonomous Trade Preferences, the Economics Ministry's media liaison service has reported.
The Moldovan Licensing Chamber issued 562 authorizations for wine export on 1 January-1 July 2012.
As much as 20 per cent of the wheat quota or 10,020 tons was used on this period. As many as 5 authorizations were issued for wheat export to the EU, with most exports being shipped to Romania. The barley quota was used at a level of 15.6 per cent or 7,000 tons.
The Licensing Chamber issued 11 authorization for sugar export to the EU. Thus, of the overall quota of 34,000 tons, Moldova used 18.5 per cent, marketing 787 tons in the EU.
In the same period, Moldova exported 11,612 tons of maize, which accounts for 29 per cent of the allotted quota.
In 2008, the EU granted Moldova the Autonomous Trade Preferences, which allows Moldovan enterprises to export goods to the EU without paying customs fees.
