The lawmakers today adopted an action plan on the fulfilment of Moldova's commitments towards the Council of Europe. Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Popov presented the plan at the parliament s plenary session. The document will envisage a comprehensive activity programme in different fields, in particular in those seen in the resolutions and recommendations of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE), of the Cabinet of Ministers and of the Congress of Local and Regional Powers. "Moldova might be excluded from PACE's monitoring in a year, if it fulfils the assumed commitments," Popov said. According to the authors, the action plan will carry a clear-cut message conveying the government's resolution to press ahead with the implementation of systemic reforms and to shift to the post-monitoring stage within the Council of Europe, as well as to advance on the dialogue with the EU. The draft plan was elaborated in 2011 by the Foreign and European Integration Ministry and was discussed with representatives of the Council of Europe. The majority of commitments and actions envisaged in the document are similar to the ones seen in the EU integration plan. An inter-ministerial group that will come out with periodic reports on the matter is to be set up.
