This is provided by the law announcing the public utility of national importance of the construction of the Ungheni-Iasi gas pipeline. On the basis of this document the government on behalf of the state will assume all necessary measures to expropriate land lots the gas pipeline of the social utility and national importance will be laying through. In particular, it will be expropriated private real estate (land lots and buildings) located in the village of Semeni, the comuna of Zagarancea of the region of Ungheni. Starting from the day of the law’ coming into effect, all bargains with lands and buildings intended for expropriation will be suspended. As it was said earlier, connection of national gas transport systems by the gas pipeline Ungheni-Iasi is a strategic purpose for both: Moldova and Romania aimed at improving the energy safety of the tow states. The project will facilitate connection of the national gas transport network to the EU South-Eastern region network. The pipeline will be 10.4 km long. The construction is assessed at 19 mln. euros, of which Romania will contribute 12 mln. euros, with the rest being allotted by Moldova. Some expenses are expected to be covered from European funds.
