Tiraspol to re-calculate armed conflict veterans
Transnistrian town and raion administrations have started re-registration of 1992 armed conflict participants as per the order given by president Yevgeny Shevchuk to verify and update veteran registers.
The work is to be completed by January 1, 2013. It is being carried out in response to appeals coming from conflict veterans, who maintain that too many impostors, having no relation to 1992 events, have penetrated and continuing to penetrate into the veterans’ community.
The thing is, Transnistrian armed conflict veterans are provided by the regional government with considerable social and other privileges, in particular at paying for utility services, the using of public transport, social allowances, medical services, sanatoria etc.
