Moldovan deputy interior minister dismissed from post

Iurie Cheptanaru today was dismissed from the office of Deputy Interior Minister. Valeriu Ciobanu was appointed to this post, who has worked at the Centre for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption so far.

The newly appointed Interior Minister, Dorin Recean, presented a draft decision on Cheptanaru's dismissal at a cabinet meeting today. Recean said that Valeriu Ciobanu has an over 25-year-long experience in the home affairs system, and that he "has the needed experience to effectively contribute to ensuring integrity, efficiency and order in the domestic affairs' system."

On 24 July, Interior Minister Alexei Roibu and Education Minister Mihail Sleahtitchi were dismissed from office. On the same day, Maia Sandu was appointed as Education Minister and Dorin Recean as Interior Minister.
