The just appointed new Minister of the Interior, Dorin Recean, held closed-door consultations with the Police Commissars of Moldovan cities, towns and raions, after which it was announced that Chisinau’s Riscani Sector Police Commissar Valentin Cucos is on the brink of dismissal: he received a final strict reprimand, and Hincesti Raion Police Commissar Victor Moraru received a “service incompetence” note.
The MoI press service told Infotag today that Cucos was thus punished for a poor internal discipline in his Commissariat. The minister stressed, this is a signal for all that service discipline is key – for absolutely all, and that next punishment will be firing from the service.
Moraru was warned for slackness and ‘scratching the surface” in detecting the scandalous case of a group of former athletes, who formed a mighty criminal group in Hincesti that specialized in an all-out extortion from local people of business.
Dorin Recean stated also that new investigations will be organized into loud but still undetected crimes such as the murder of Basarab Vin Company Director Igor Basarab in January 2011; the murder of National Lawn Tennis Federation President Igor Turcan in July 2011, who was blasted up in his car in a broad daylight in downtown Chisinau; two double-murders of young pairs – in autumn 2010 and in April 2011, who were shot dead while in their cars on roadsides.
