Day of mourning declared in Ungheni

Saturday, August 11, has been declared a day of mourning in Ungheni. All flags will be lowered and all official institutions will keep a moment of silence at 10:00am for the 11 people who were killed in a bus accident Thursday.

Ungheni district head Iurie Toma has told Info-Prim Neo that the district's population aid fund offered 5,000 lei to each of the mourning families to help them with the funerals. All the mayors in the district made personal donations as well. The family of Morenii Noi village's mayor, who died in the accident together with his wife received 10,000 lei in aid from the district authorities.

Funerals for some of the deceased will be held today and others will be buried on Sunday.

Eleven passengers, including two children, were killed in a bus accident on August 9 in Ungheni district after the bus fell into a ravine on a dangerous curve.
