The European Commission today offered 3 million euros for technical assistance in the Moldovan healthcare sector.
The head of the European Commission's Delegation in Moldova, Dirk Schuebel, today told a news conference that the three-year project is part of the direct budgetary assistance for the healthcare sector.
The project sees supply of technical assistance, including for the elaboration of a framework for monitoring the system, for holding courses on decision-making and adjusting the legal and normative framework on public healthcare.
Also, the project's team will put together national plans of controlling tobacco and alcohol consumption, including social anti-smoking and anti-alcohol campaigns. "This support is vital for the Moldovan healthcare sector and for its path to European integration," Healthcare Minister Vladimir Hotineanu said.
The head of the World Health Organization bureau in Moldova, Pavel Ursu, said that the project's main goal is to improve and assess performances of the healthcare sector.
