Russian sanitary service Rospotrebnadzor has blocked almost a million litres of Moldovan wines. The Russian Chief Sanitary Doctor, Gennady Onishchenko, noted for Interfax that the Moldovan wine quality worsened since July 2010. “The total quantity of poor quality Moldovan wine that amounted to 544 884 bottles or 960 000 litres”, said Onishchenko.
According to the declarations of Rospotrebnadzor head, based on the documents issued by Russia, the procedure of Moldovan wine re-exportation started.
On July 17, Onishchenko said that Russia will institute an embargo against Moldovan wine imports if our country fails to handle the problem of the wine quality in two weeks.
“It’s time to draw conclusions, because the period given to Moldova to decide on the problem in the most important field of the national economy is coming to an end”, stressed Gennady Onishchenko.
The Russian chief sanitary doctor listed Salcuta, Vinaria Bostovan and Basvinex among the Moldovan wine companies that manifested negatively on the Russian market.
Onishchenko forecast for Moldova an economic catastrophe, given that according to his statements the observance of the technical parameters for the wine quality returned to 2006.
On the other hand, the wine experts say that the Moldovan wines do not exceed any pesticide content limit, and that Russia has not set an admissible pesticide migration limit for the Moldovan wines. For the time being, the International Organization for Vine and Wine has neither recommended anything in this regard.
According to Prime Minister, Vladimir Filat, the Moldovan wine crisis on the Russian market is a technical problem Moldova will manage to overcome.
