Heavy rain caused more damage than anticipated

The August 17 rain caused more damage than initially estimated. The reports presented by the local commissions for emergencies helped clarify the situation, Emergencies Service spokeswoman Liliana Puscasu stated for Info-Prim Neo.

According to the quoted source, the heavy rain and hail damaged over 800 hectares of vineyards, orchards, corn, sunflower and tobacco in Rumeantsev village of Cahul district, Mitoc, Isacova, Cucuruzeni, Seliste, Malaiesti and Vatici villages, Orhei, Meseni, Peciste and Ignatei villages, Rezina. The damage caused is being assessed.

Eight of the 54 settlements that remained without electricity as a result of the violent storms have not been yet reconnected to the power supply.
