Russian Federal Service for Consumer Rights and Human Welfare Protection (Rospotrebnadzor) will refrain from visiting Moldovan wine producing enterprises, the service’s chief Gennady Onishchenko said to RIA Novosti.

As Onishchenko said, Moldovan authorities’ behavior, especially at the end of the last week, outweighed the scales in a direction to abstain from further actions, bearing in mind that the nature of their statements did not have any constructability and would turn the expert efforts into a waste of time.

The Rospotrebnadzor chief claims that the only thing, which could justify such logic of behavior, could be a fact of an indirect evidence of a cumulative impact of harmful substances, which we constantly find in the desired output [Moldovan wine], on a health status [of Moldovan authorities] and, therefore, [their] mental processes.

The story on Moldovan wines imports has been lasting since 2006 when Rospotrebnadzor imposed an embargo on all Moldovan imports on safety and quality reasons. However, Russia resumed imports in 2007 when Moldovan products of more than 40 wine-making companies passed through tests.

In April 2010, Rospotrebnadzor rejected a batch of Moldovan wines of 47 thousand liters because they ‘failed to meet safety requirements’. The new problems with the quality of Moldovan wines became known in late June. Rospotrebnadzor experts discovered pesticides and dibutyl phthalate in them immediately after Moldovan acting President Mihai Ghimpu issued a decree declaring June 28, 1940, as the Soviet Occupation Day.

In early August, the Moldovan experts once again, together with Rospotrebnadzor specialists discussed in Moscow the issue of control over the quality of wine production.

Meanwhile, since the beginning of the month 17,5 thousand liters of Moldovan wine products have been re-exported to Moldova.
