The Agriculture and Food Ministry (MAIA) today will offer a list of 313 companies exporting fruits and vegetables to the Russian Rosselkhoznadzor service. The move comes after the Russian federal service for veterinary and plant control Rosselkhoznadzor cut to 33 a list of 136 exporters of Moldovan fruits and vegetables on 24 August.
Agriculture and Food Minister Valeriu Cosarciuc told a news conference today that the Russian side showed willingness to discuss this issue after Prime Minister Vlad Filat had made an appeal to this effect to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
Today, MAIA is to summon the associations of producers and exporters of vegetable products to compile a list of exportesr. Subsequently, a representative of the ministry will leave for Moscow to coordinate it with Rosselkhoznadzor.
"We are sure that the trade relations between Moldova and Russia will not be affected. Moldova further wants these ties to be civilized and based on law," the minister said.
MAIA said that, in the first seven months of 2010, Moldova exported fruits and vegetables worth 333 million dollars, up by five per cent against the last year. Russia consumes 30 per cent of the vegetable goods exported by Moldova, Belarus 10.6 per cent, and Romania 7.3 per cent.
