The Transnistrian republican bank (PRB) established the official exchange rate for Transnistrian ruble (TRR) at the level TRR11.18: US$1 on May 11, reducing it by 0.02 rubles for the first time.
As Infotag has already reported, the official rate was only increased for 4 times up to date. For the first time it occurred on January 5 – to 10.9 from 10.5 rubles per 1 U.S. dollar to reduce a gap between the official and market rates; for the second time, to 11.1 rubles on January 20; for the third time, to 11.15 rubles on January 27; and to 11.2 rubles on March 13.
The PRB leadership said that changing the rate is effectuated within parameters established by the Key Directions of the single government monetary policy for 2012, and aims to support and promote activities of exports-oriented business entities of the region.
In conformity with the Key Directions, an average exchange rate in 2012 will make TRR12: US$1, and depreciation pace – about 14.3%.
