The currency reserves went down to 2.043 billion dollars by late May, down by 71 million dollars as compared with 27 April, according to data by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM).

The weakening of the exchange rates of reserve currencies, in particular of the euro, against the dollar in May prompted a decrease in the currency reserves by 66.61 million dollars.

In May, there were made payments for the Crediting Line Directorate under the Finance Ministry worth 3.55 million dollars, and 3.47 million dollars were spent to pay foreign debts. Other foreign payments amounted to 1.47 million dollars, the BNM data show.

Meanwhile, incomes estimated at 2.54 million dollars came from the management of the currency reserves, and another 1.06 million dollars was levied from other sources. At the same time, about 1 million dollars was bought on the internal currency market.
