Moldovans’ incomes went up, but lower than expenses
Average incomes per a citizen of Moldova made 1,493 lei per month in January-March, which is 6.6% more than in the equivalent period of 2011. The data has been provided by the National Bureau of Statistics.
The main source of incomes is wages, namely 43.9%, though its share dropped 5 percentage points. Specialists explain it by a drop in the number of production workers.
The second main source is still social benefits – 18.4% (up 1.8 percentage points); and the third – incomes from businesses (16%). At the same time, 10.1% incomes are ensured by agricultural activities and 5% by other.
For the first time, remittances from abroad moved back to the fourth ranking – 15.5% (up 0.7 percentage points). However, they grew by 11.7% in absolute money terms by 11.7%.
Incomes of the urban population are 1.7% higher than of rural ones. Their share of salary is also different – 56.8% and 27.8% respectively. But the ratio of remittances is contrary – 12.3% and 19.5% respectively.
The average monthly consumer expenses exceed the incomes by 1.17%, and make 1,510 lei per a person on the average (up 5.8%).
Thus, 43.7% (up 0.7 percentage points) incomes are spent for foodstuffs. Expenses on public utilities made 18.3% (up 1.4 percentage points) of total consumer expenditures, and on clothing and shoes – 10.9% (up 0.9 percentage points).
