Moldova in order to avoid shortages of sugar imports into the domestic market in July-September 2012 about 15 thousand tons of sugar
As InfoMarket agency was informed in the Ministry of Economy, the Office took the decision to support the circulation of the Union of Sugar Producers of the authorization to supply to the country every month to 5 thousand tons of sugar in the privileged mode. This proposal is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Moldova. As the Deputy Minister of Economy Octavian Calmac says, according to authorities, the import of sugar under preferential regime during the period of maximum use will maintain the current price.
Moreover, the ministry hopes that this decision will lead to reduction in sugar prices this year. According to the Union of Sugar Producers of Moldova, the need to import sugar is due to the low yield of sugar beet in 2011 This year's stocks of sugar in Moldova amounted to 67.8 thousand tons, of which, in January-June, SG sold 52.6 thousand tons, 4.1 tons destined for industrial use, and about 9 thousand tons of sugar will be exported to Moldova, in accordance with previous agreements.
