Democrat leader Marian doesn't rule out the possibility that Valentin Cheptene's departure could be part of a secret plan in a scenario where a larger group could split from the Our Moldova Alliance (AMN) to join another party, Info-Prim Neo reports.

“We shouldn't forget that the government is now represented by 55 MPs, and without the 4 MPs of Mr Urecheanu, there isn't a parliamentary majority and naturally there isn't a Cabinet either”, said Marian Lupu.

Marian Lupu, as well as Speaker Mihai Ghimpu, said he saw no problem related to AMN deputies' keeping their current positions – despite losing a member concurrently with the formal status of a parliamentary faction – that of senior deputy speaker and chairmen and deputy chairmen on various parliamentary commissions.

Asked whether MP Valentin Cheptene would be welcome to join the Democratic Party, Marian Lupu said such a decision solely depended on the MP, but this time the PDM would think very carefully before accepting him.
