Prime Minister Vlad Filat has received congratulatory messages on Independence Day from his Russian, Ukrainian and Romanian counterparts, the government s communication and press relations department has said.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin conveyed sincere congratulations to Filat and the Moldovan people on the occasion of Moldova s national day.

"On this solemn day, I wish you good health, welfare and achievements and to the Moldovan people happiness and prosperity. I am sure that the century-old traditional friendship and mutual sympathy relations between our peoples will help step up the mutually advantageous Moldovan-Russian cooperation in various sectors," Putin s message said.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov wished the Moldovan people peace and welfare and Prime Minister Vlad Filat health and success in his work.

"I am sure that the friendship relations and the mutually advantageous partnership between our countries will lead to the achievement of our joint strategic goal - the membership of the European Union - and the ascendant development of the Moldovan-Ukrainian dialogue in line with the principle of mutual respect and good-neighbourly relations will lead to the consolidation of cooperation so as to meet the interests of the citizens of our countries," the message said.

Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc conveyed the most whole-hearted thoughts of welfare to all Moldova s citizens.

"During your mandate and the one of the government that you head, I was glad to ascertain that the Republic of Moldova was put back on the map of European democracies, becoming a reliable and predictable associate for its European partners. Also, the recent extremely favourable period in our bilateral relations gives me real reasons of optimism as concerns the deepening of the bilateral dialogue in all the sectors which would bring benefits to the citizens from both banks of the Prut as soon as possible," Boc said in his message.

Also, Boc reiterated his personal support and the backing of the Romanian government for the promotion of Moldova s European aspirations.
