Nearly 90% said 'Yes' at referendum, exit poll

An exit poll commissioned by Publika TV showed that 89.2% of the voters said “yes” in today's constitutional referendum, as 10,8% voted against, Info-Prim Neo reports.

The exit poll was conducted by the Romanian Institute for Evaluation and Strategy (IRES) with the help of 300 operators at 130 polling stations in Chisinau.

50.26% of the respondents were men. 93.34% identified themselves as Moldovans, 4.17% as Russians, 1.87% as Ukrainians and 0.37% as Gagauzians.

The question asked in the referendum was: “Do you want the president to be elected by popular vote?”.

The polling stations closed at 21:00.
