The opposition Party of Communists has requested the dismissal of the leadership of the Audiovisual Coordination Council (CCA) and of the public TV channel Moldova One. The statement was made today by Communist leader Vladimir Voronin.

According to Voronin, the public TV channel Moldova One should broadcast live all the parliamentary sessions and to grant much room to the parliamentary oppositions in the news bulletins.

"Thus, citizens will enjoy the freedom of expressions and will benefit from the right to fair information. The governance showed its anti-democratic nature at the hearings on the independence of press, held last week, by refusing to adopt a decision on the results of the hearings. We demand that the pro-opposition NIT TV channel resume broadcasting, until the court issues a final judgment on the matter and that the CCA leadership be dismissed," Voronin said. Prime Minister Vlad Filat remains on the first position on a top of measuring the decision-taking influence. The top is monthly carried out by the "Politicon" Strategic Researches and Consultancy Centre. The director of this institution, Anatol Taranu, today said that "a period of calm, that will last till the end of the summer" was established in Moldovan politics.

Thus, according to the findings of the survey, Chisinau mayor Dorin Chirtoaca ranks second, and Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu is on the third position. The political pundit, Anatol Taranu, considers that another leader of the Democratic Party (PD), Vladimir Plahotniuc, "is behind the party's leader (Lupu), as he was expecting Marian Lupu to have a higher rating following the PD's congress."

Deputy Parliament Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc ranks fifth after Foreign and European Integration Minister Iurie Leanca. Taranu noted that Leanca is on the first positions of the top due to the "progress recorded by the foreign policy."

The former lawmaker of the opposition Party of Communists (PCRM), Vadim Misin, who went up by 68 points, is on the ninth position. Experts of the centre explain the leap by "the blow struck against the PCRM on the fly" by the Misin, who quitted the party last June. The leaders of the Liberal Party, Mihai Ghimpu, Party of Communists, Vladimir Voronin, and President Nicolae Timofti rank 6th, 7th and 8th, respectively.

The "Politicon" centre carries out the survey of measuring the political influence via interviewing 36 people described by the institute as experts, who put marks to politicians depending on their political performance.

The Communist leader was concerned about the situation in the agriculture field, stating that this issue would be tackled at the PCRM's plenary session due in September. "The country's food safety is jeopardized, while the current leadership focuses on trivial issues," Voronin said.

Moldova One was obliged to suspend the live broadcasts of the parliamentary meetings in 2004 when the Party of Communists was in power. Back then, the Communist MPs described the live transmissions as "inefficient".
