Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu had an offline meeting with bloggers, opinion leaders and journalists on 5 July, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported. The participants in the meeting discussed subjects on the up-to-date social, political and economic situation in Moldova. The parliament speaker was asked to give his opinions on prospects of Moldova's European integration, political settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, evolution of the political life in Moldova following the overcoming of the constitutional stalemate, other topical subjects. Touching upon the political settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, Parliament Speaker Marian Lupu said that Moldova's federalization is unacceptable. Lupu stressed that the only solution is giving the Transnistrian region a wide autonomy within Moldova. This fact will be discussed also with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who will visit Chisinau this summer. As for Moldova's social and economic development, Marian Lupu pointed out, besides other topics, also the need to pay special attention to the development of the IT sector. The development of the information technologies is a strategic area, which brings added value, and all the conditions must be created for the development of this sector, the parliament speaker said. There is potential, and hence, the state's authorities should promote policies of backing the IT field, including by providing fiscal facilities.
