A European People’s Party summit has begun in Batumi (Republic of Georgia) on Tuesday. It has gathered delegations from the parties, which have joined the EPP, from the member countries of the Eastern Partnership Program – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
Chaired by European People’s Party Head Wilfried Martens, the summit is being attended by the Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova, Prime Minister Vladimir Filat who is on an official visit to Gagauzia this week.
The European People’s Party is the largest political formation in Europe. EPP has 288 members in the European Parliament. The impressive list of EPP political leaders includes German Chancellor Angela Merkel, ex-President of France Nicolas Sarcozy, President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Durao Barroso, and other.
