Prime Minister Vlad Filat has asked the Security and Information Service (SIS), Prosecutor General's Office (PG) and Interior Ministry to investigate a case of the Balti Municipal Council infringing the legal norm. The Balti council today ruled to hold a local referendum on the extension of local autonomy of this municipality on 9 September 2012, the government's communication and press relations department has reported. The prime minister also demanded that the head of the Balti Territorial Office of the Moldovan State Chancellery appeals the decision of the Balti Municipal Council in court, after it enters into force, given the serious infringements of the legislation in force committed by the Balti council while adopting this decision. The prime minister described this decision as illegal, and asked to take all the needed measures to cancel it.
