The rain that fell recently in Romania and Ukraine may cause a new flood wave on the Prut River, Emergencies Service spokeswoman Liliana Puscau has told Info-Prim Neo, adding the situation is under control.

In Lipcani, the Prut water level rose by 90 centimeters to 3.65 meres, in Sirauti – by 1.65 centimeters to 4.02 meters, in Lopatnic, Edinet – by 5 centimeters. In other parts, it fell by 3 centimeters to 0.5 meters.

The level of water in the Costesti-Stanca reservoir is 92.62 meters, while the releases are 180 cubic meters per second.

Specialists of the National Administration “Romania's Waters” warn about a possible new flood wave following the rise in the level of the Prut water on the upper course of the river and on Romania's territory, at the hydrometric stations Oroftiana and Radauti

The Romanian experts say the flood wave formed on the Prut will be attenuated at the Costesti-Stanca reservoir, which now has a reserve storage capacity of about 300 million cubic meters of water.
