After over 30 years, “Lacul Sarat” (“The Salty Lake”) in Cahul town will be rehabilitated and will be transformed into a recreational area in southern Moldova. The restoration of the lake is financed by the National Regional Development Fund. The works cost over 9 million lei and will last for ten months, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Regional Development Agency “Sud”.
The rehabilitation works will start in May. The lake is to be put into operation next summer. Within the project, there will be built an artesian well for the accumulation of water in “Lacul Sarat” and a barrage on the Frumoasa River and printed informative brochures. Also, the “Lacul Sarat” area will be promoted at national and international levels.
The area near the lake includes natural features allowing treating a large number of diseases of the locomotor apparatus, central nervous system and the circulatory system.
